This category of care is one of the most commonly chosen options. As the name suggests, the caregiver assumes residence at the client’s home for a minimum duration of 24 hours at any given time. This live-in arrangement can range from a few days per week to an extended period of your choice . It is a preferred option for clients who are disabled, live alone and are medically categorized as a ” fall risk.” It is also an accelerated option to the companion care alternative. Classified conditions causing susceptibility to falls include stroke patients, side effects of certain medications, altered mental status, low blood pressure, vision problems, reduced muscle strength , a history of falls and pre-existing disabilities.
